I also had the chance to hit multiple birds with one stone, I get the chance to watch my daughter joining the football team of International School of Hyderabad and compete against 3 other IS in India, The British School – New Delhi, Stonehill International School- Bangalore and Mercedes Benz International School – Pune. Plus a bonus of meeting with one of my friends & former partner in Service Learning, Amanda Kirkham!

Coaching Volleyball Girls @ ISH

The ISH ISACI Girls Volleyball Vipers returned from their recent end of season ISACI tournament hosted at Mercedes Benz International School (Eagles) all the better off from a marvellous, exhilarating and exhausting experience against the ISACI schools from Stonehill Tigers & New Delhi Panthers.

The action and team bonding began as the girls met at the airport in Hyderabad and continued throughout the 2 day tournament. Although the ISH the girls finished with 1 win and 3 narrow record the girls positive attitude and passion remained high at all times. Coaches Peji and Schalm were super proud of the girls throughout the entire event.

Host school Mercedes Benz equally needs to be applauded for the excellent event. Athletic Director, Gino Dicorato and his Athletic faculty worked tirelessly to make the event such a dynamic experience for all the ISACI schools. While the hosting parents were full of praise for the ISH student-athletes excellent conduct in their homes as new friendships became more established.

See comments from the ISH Girls Volleyball Team:

I have 2 best moments: 1) I loved the matches: everyone got to play, and it wasn’t as stressful as I thought it would be. I do not regret any of those games, because we all played to our best ability and most of our games were very tight. 2) Travelling was very fun. I know that airports and all of those places are not always the best place to be with friends, but it turned out to be one of my best moments. Especially in the bus, listening to music and learning how to sing Dutch rap while the others were desperately trying to make us stop was hilarious. – Charlotte (Grade 7)

My best moment in the ISACI tournament was the time we were about to give up but laughed and shook it off – Angela (Grade 9)

“I felt, that the best moment during the ISACI tournament was the calm and oddly serene feeling I felt, after the match that determined our place… I was so proud of our team for staying happy and casual about us coming 4th! We were a bit upset at first but then we perked up because we knew we put a huge amount of effort for this tournament and not one team was able to beat us easily! The matches were always neck-to-neck! I don’t care what place we came… I’m just glad about the effort we put into our games! I hope all of ISH feels the same…”

Thank you so much for everything Ms. Tina! You rock! – Arundhati (Grade 7)

The team bonding moments were great because we got to mingle with the other team members. We did really fun activities and it allowed us to get to know the other teams better.  –  Sneha G (Grade 11)

More than winning a tournament, the great things about playing are gaining new friends, learning something new, becoming better players and creating life-long memories. I am proud of you ISH Vipers Volleyball Team. For me, you are all winners! ~Ms. Tina
